Book Discovery: Angels and Aliens by Maureen Senecal

Ghosted: A Novel by Rosie_The BookWalker

What do extraterrestrial entities have to do with the afterlife? How can an act of forgiveness affect the fate of the Earth? And can the love one has for a soulmate rewrite destinies preordained by cosmic forces? Maureen Senecal's answer to these questions, as Biblical lore and sci-fi come to a head in her mind-bending metaphysical narrative following Angels and Aliens and their plans for humanity.

Since she was a child, Laura has been beset by encounters with the third kind, instilling in her an ingrained fear of Angels and Aliens. Instead, terror gives way to discovery when she learns the truth about these mysterious beings. This path takes her to her soulmate, Michael, and the revelation of the past lives they've lived. Reincarnation, the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, has given them a bond unlike any other―a love that's endured for multiple lifetimes. Will this be enough for what's in store for them?

The heartwarming revelation is accompanied by a horrible truth, that of catastrophes fated to befall Earth. Cosmic forces bestow Laura with a heavy responsibility, and she must decide whether she will execute their directive or forge a new path. Each choice has its consequences. Senecal explores Angels and Aliens, as well as parallel universes, the nature of reality, fate and free will. She shows how Laura is confronted with these revelations and proceeds to search deep within herself to find guidance from the Creator. Her journey conveys how this love and light is within each of us and is the key to forgiveness.

Forgiveness and love are seemingly minute acts in the face of Earth-shaking realizations and trans-dimensional, extraterrestrial conspiracies. It is precisely because of the humanity of these actions and feelings that they become crucial in shaping the fate of Laura, Michael and all of humankind. Readers will see that these aspects are what distinguish us from the incomprehensible powers shaping our world, imbuing us with the divine. Forgiveness and love hold the potential to save the world precisely because they are the world in themselves.

Senecal’s triumph is in showing how this is the common thread linking spirituality and reality―warping concepts, which people will bring with them as they explore existence in all its facets - from the depths of the soul to the furthest reaches of space and time. She challenges the dichotomy of faith and science, breaking down the barriers between conceptual paradigms and genres alike, and shares her revelation: that being human; fearing, forgiving and ultimately loving, is the unifying force behind all dimensions and realities.

A note from the author;

I was born in Montreal, Quebec, to French-speaking parents. In my teenage years, I moved west to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory via British Columbia where I have been settled for the past 40 years.

While taking a hypnosis course in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in a trance state, I received information about possible catastrophes coming about for Planet Earth. I put the information I had received down on paper and didn’t know what to do with it. I tried my hand at writing, got discouraged, rolled up my papers and put them away.

A few years later, I decided to go to Big Island, in Hawaii. I met a fascinating woman who told me she thought we would travel together someday. She gave me her business card when we were parting. I had no idea she was an editor. I jokingly told her about some writing I had done. She suggested I take it out again and that is what I did.

At that time, I was living in Old Crow, Yukon, a small remote, dry, fly-in Gwich'in community, above the Arctic Circle, in northern Yukon Territory, Canada. I had taken a teaching position. Upon returning from spring break in Hawaii, I decided to dust off my writing and try my hand again. I taped chart paper over my walls in my tiny apartment. It was so cold that year when the power went out ice cubes formed in the bathtub. I didn’t have any wood for my tiny wood stove. So, I took out my markers and got to work. Then the fun began.

As a teacher, I decided to share some of my writing with my students to encourage them. I wrote, they wrote. I shared a few pages and was pleased when they liked it. That gave me the incentive to continue writing. While teaching, I would always tell my students to write about what you know. I have been fortunate to be able to travel a lot. I have hiked the Camino de Santiago in Spain two times and have walked the Chilkoot Trail many times. In Angels and Aliens, I have also mentioned some of my past lives that I learned about during my hypnosis training.

At the end of the school year, I decided to travel to Abadiania, Brazil to see ‘John of God.’ I stayed in an octagon hut and continued working on my manuscript. I completed my final copy while watching a snake slither up the road. While in Abadiania, I also ‘passed’ in front of ‘John of God’ who accepted my manuscript and gave me ‘permission’ to sell my book at Casa de Dom Inácio (the house of St Ignatius Loyola). I feel very privileged.

The cover of my book is designed by the artist ‘Pablo Prates’. He has a small storefront on the main street in this tiny village. I had told him I was writing a book and asked him if he could do the cover for me. I gave him a brief outline of my story. He painted the canvas, and I was exuberant.

The following year, I returned to Abadiania, Brazil to once again see this miracle man, ‘John of God’. He gave me a directive to write another book. I feel this is quite an honour. Pablo has also already done a canvas for this next book! I’m on my way!

Why did I write this book? I felt compelled to write. You write when you have a story to tell. Maybe it was synchronicity meeting my future editor in Hawaii. Also, while in Old Crow, the winter days/nights are dark, long and cold. They average about -30 degrees Celsius and much colder with the wind chill. You tend to stay inside. In summer, the sun does not set for weeks which is why Yukon is called ‘The Land of the Midnight Sun’. When writing, many times I wrote late into the wee hours of the morning. I couldn’t stop, the ideas just kept flowing. I would Skype my editor at set times, and we would discuss what I had done. I would fill her in with tidbits about Old Crow, the caribou, and activities happening there. I cherished those writing times by sharing so many ideas.

This is my first book, and I decided to put it into a fictional format for ease of reading. I hope my readers enjoy this book as much as I did writing it.
