Money doesn't change people; it reveals who they truly are. Vanquish of the Dragon Shroud is a thrilling tale of money and its hand in mystery, love, betrayal, crime, and the lives of people whose lives revolve around it.
The book goes beyond the wealth and glamor of this world and explores the humanity of the characters. The individual stories unfold as the book progresses and unpacks very real human emotions.
The story starts with Maxine Aronheart and her hedge fund manager husband, Logan in a celebratory cruise on a yacht. The stunning couple has everything money can buy and a life most people can only dream of.
Or, do they?
Their perfect life quickly changes as the yacht is engulfed in flames and Logan throws his beautiful wife, Maxine into the ocean. His last words to her was a mysterious phrase, "You will forgive me." But, the mystery doesn't end here. After surviving the incident, she sets out to find her husband but what she finds are more mysteries, questions, and danger.
Vanquish of the Dragon Shroud is the kind of thriller that doesn't only rely on the mystery itself for the storyline. There are different themes explored in this book. The story itself is a fictional expose on the financial world. It tells the story of what happens when those in it asks too few questions to get to the money fast. It also allows the readers a peek at the lives of the major financial players and the mysteries that surround their world. The book itself is inspired by the headlines and the hidden delinquencies of the financial world.
Many financial terminologies are included in the book. All of them are vital to the story. However, the readers won't need a background in Economics to understand them. The author has successfully explained them and incorporated it into the story. Enough context is provided to add them to the story seamlessly.
Vanquish of the Dragon Shroud is an informative and intriguing book for those who are interested in mystery and fiction that accurately represents the meaning of “art imitates life.”
Reviews and What Readers Say
“ I liked this story but it took me awhile to get into the plot and thrill. This is a suspenseful law enforcement story with a few twist and turns. Book was originally published in 2015. Hedge funds and traders that deal with China are the main thrust of the book. Maxine survives an explosion on a boat and is determined to find out if her husband was trying to kill her or save her. Good buildup of plot in that line with several other themes along side. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review."

“ A gripping financial thriller, tightly plotted with well developed characters, mystery and intrigue at every turn and some great twists. From the explosive beginning to the final denouement, the story flows adeptly, the characters have unique voices and there's some interesting insights into the foreign realms of hedge fund management. Definitely an author to note. I received an eARC from the author via Booksprout and had absolutely no hesitation in writing a voluntary review.”

Long before writing his first financial thriller, Gregg spent nearly forty years in the financial world as a business leader and executive. During his career, Gregg met and worked with some of the brightest, and most successful investment managers in the country. But he also witnessed the darker side of the glamorous and exciting world of wealth management - and concealment.
While living in New York City, Gregg found the inspiration for his first financial thriller. Becoming fascinated with the "dark properties" in and around his Central Park neighborhood, Gregg discovered the deadly side of hidden wealth, and the elusive world of those who manage it.
