Book Talk: Proverbs to Live By: Miniature Life Lessons for Daily Living by Dr. Harry Heinrichs
We live in an age where information rests on our fingertips. It is almost as if we have the knowledge of our world within easy reach and that wealth of data is expanding every day. It is estimated that around 90 percent of the data in the world was generated in the last two years. The growth of the knowledge that we can access is truly mind-boggling. However, beyond data and the noise that surrounds it, it seems that we are still falling short on wisdom.
Wisdom differs from data in that it needs to be constantly sought. It needs an effort of reflection and filtering in order to be known. Fortunately, wisdom is ever present for those who seek it.
Proverbs to Live By: Miniature Life Lessons for Daily Living by Dr. Harry Heinrichs is written for the wisdom seekers. It is derived from and inspired by the book of Proverbs. It is a source of true wisdom that can be used for our daily living to guide us and enrich our lives.
The Bible has already provided humanity with wisdom that is dynamic. It is just as relevant today as it was when it was written. Proverbs to Live By lifts from this book to provide daily nuggets of wisdom that readers can reflect upon throughout the year.
Wisdom, compared to raw data, is even more beneficial and enriching. Wisdom tells us how to harness our knowledge, the data that we have acquired, and the experiences that we have earned throughout our lives so we can apply it towards our own purpose. James 1:5 tells us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all." Proverbs to Live By is a book that aids those who seek the wisdom that can transform lives and bless others as a result.
