Book Talk: Unfold Your Petals by Evangeline Cain
Sharing another empowering message to women all over the world, author Evangeline Cain talks about the embodied woman in her book, Unfold Your Petals.
This book is about the challenges that women go through in life and encourages women to call on ancient goddesses to aid them in their time of need. Cain reminds women that they are not alone, no matter what the world would rather them believe. It upholds the truth that the goddesses of ancient times who have seen the world from when it is very young until its recent evolution want women to succeed. It is up to the women of today to call upon them and embody what these goddesses represent.
Unfold your Petals help women understand who these goddesses are and how they move through the world. It aims to help women understand all aspects of being a goddess, including their gentleness and strength.
There are many nuances to womanhood and femininity that most people do not explore. Perhaps, it is because the world has conditioned us to think that being a woman means being the weaker gender. Or, because femininity is beautiful, that is all it is good for. So many women and men do not understand the strength that comes with being a woman and a goddess. It is for this reason that so many women hide who they are, what they think, and how they feel. They fear that these essential parts of who they are make them seem vulnerable. We live in a culture that tells us that vulnerability equals weakness. This can’t be further from the truth.
Throughout the book, Cain encourages women to open up. She believes that “each of our petals represents our accomplishments that have nurtured our wounds and what we can’t nurture the goddesses carry us through.” In this book are thirty days of devotion and knowledge to help women understand and harness the power of their thoughts, feelings, and identity.
